IndiGo Appoints Jiten Chopra As Its New Chief Financial Officer

IndiGo's newly appointed CFO Jiten Chopra. He will take charge on February 21.

InterGlobe Aviation Ltd (IndiGo) on Monday announced the appointment of Jiten Chopra as Chief Financial Officer effective February 21, 2021. He will report to Ronojoy Dutta, Whole Time Director and CEO. He succeeds Aditya Pande who is leaving the IndiGo to pursue other interests.

Commenting on the appointment, Ronojoy Dutta said, “We are fortunate and excited at Jiten accepting this position. His enormous expertise prior to the airline and his experience since February 2020 when he joined us, will greatly strengthen our team as we continue to build a world class national air transportation network.”

Mr. Dutta also said that the airline was sorry to lose Aditya who for the past seventeen months has contributed greatly to the airline. “We thank Aditya Pande for his services and wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” he said.

Jiten Chopra said he was delighted about his new role at this very exciting stage of the airline’s journey.

Joining IndiGo

Mr. Chopra joined the airline in February 2020 as Head of Governance, Risk and Compliance. Prior to joining the carrier, Jiten had about 25 years of working experience at BSR and Co (KPMG) in Audit and Risk Management, Business Development, Operations and Transaction Services.

Before leaving KMPG, he was their Senior Partner, COO Audit and Member of Audit Executive team.  His role as a Senior Partner included managing client relationship along with executing audit assignments to ensure high quality of delivery, identifying business opportunities and growing the account for KPMG.

The role also had significant interaction with top level client executives including CXO, CFO and CEO‘s, meeting and presenting to the Board and Audit committee members.

Mr. Chopra is an FCA from The Institute of Chartered Accountants, India (1995) and a CWA from Institute of Cost Accountants, India (1995).  Previously, he earned his Bachelor of Management Science degree in 1990.

In the last year and a half, IndiGo has witnessed several exits. These include, Ankur Garg, vice president, revenue management who is now with Air Asia and Shilpa Bhatia, chief sales and revenue officer who joined SpiceJet.
