In a view of restrictions imposed on mass gatherings, Indian Air Force (IAF) has chalked down a set of new guidelines that visitors and media personnel attending the Air Force Day celebration ceremony in October will have to follow.

The ceremonial event is schedule on October 8, 2020 at the Air Force Station, Hindon and Full Dress Rehearsal will be conducted on October 6, 2020. Unlike every year, this year celebration will be done with different plans and guidelines owing to COVID-19 pandemic.

The Air Force Day is celebrated every year on October 8, the day Indian Air Force was officially established in 1932. This year, the IAF Day is special as the first five of 36 long-awaited Rafale fighter jets were received by the Indian Air Force at Ambala airbase.

As per information provided by the PRO Indian Air Force, Chief of Air Staff’s press conference, a part of the celebration, will be held on October 5, 2020 and the entry will be by invitation only. An invitation in this regard will be issued to relevant journalists on a later date. Since it is not possible to accommodate all photographers for the event, IAF will be sharing photographs of the event from its PRO office located in the South Block, New Delhi. Camera crew for electronic media will be limited to one per media house only.

Further tightened security, the IAF has made it clear that Media passes for coverage of Air Force Day Parade and the full dress rehearsal at Air Force Station Hindon will be issued only for the journalists registering for the same. Registration will be limited to one journalist, one cameraperson (still/video) and technical crew for OB Van per media entity only. However, this year celebration will not have any guests since the armed forces have decided not to issue any guest pass for family or friends for witnessing the Air Force Day Parade.
