From May 12, 2021, travellers flying from Abu Dhabi with Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, will be able to validate their COVID-19 travel documents before arriving at the airport.

Guests can arrive at the airport with confidence and with peace of mind, knowing they have met all essential requirements before their flight.

With the formalities out of the way, verified travellers can enjoy fast track check-in at the airport by going to the dedicated ‘Verified to Fly’ desk for a quicker and smoother experience.

Etihad for Innovative Solutions

Mohammad Al Bulooki, Chief Operating Officer, Etihad Aviation Group said: “As Etihad continuously looks for innovative solutions to simplify the travel experience, Verified to Fly removes any guess work from the equation and makes check-in faster. Guests have total peace of mind knowing that when they arrive at the airport, they have already met all COVID travel requirements”.

To use the Verified to Fly service, guests can sign-up by visiting Manage my Booking and will receive further information on how to submit their documents.

Once the submission has been checked by the Verified to Fly team, guests will receive a ‘success’ email if their documents meet government requirements. If requirements are missing or not met, the guest will be asked to resubmit or check their documents.

Guests can also check their Verified to Fly status at any time by visiting Manage my Booking.

Verified to Fly will be available for all guests departing Abu Dhabi from May 12, 2021 (excluding China) and for flights departing Amman, Beirut, Dhaka and Manila shortly thereafter. Future developments are in progress to introduce the service on other destinations.

COVID Tests for Passengers

In addition, Etihad and DUBZ said on Tuesday that they will ensure passengers have the option to get COVID-19 PCR tests when booking for home check-in packages.

The test will be arranged through the carrier’s medical partner, LifeDx.

To avail of the services, passengers will have to book at the airline’s website at least seven hours before their flight.

At the selected time between 8am and 8pm, the check-in agent will arrive at the booked location.

Before collecting the baggage, the agent will verify travel documents and complete the check-in process.

During the process, passengers can select their seats as well as buy extra baggage allowance as per their requirement.

With an additional fee, passengers can also add Priority Boarding Tag for early flight boarding and Priority Bag Tag for receiving their luggage first.

Passengers availing of this service will be able to skip the queues bag-free at the Abu Dhabi International Airport and collect their belongings directly at the destination baggage belt.

Enhancing Travel Experience

Etihad Airways Global Airport Network and Cargo Operations vice-president John Wright said: “Etihad is continuously looking to enhance the travel experience and with this latest initiative, the airline is giving guests more convenient travel options.

“Especially during the Covid pandemic, the home check-in service also limits human interaction at the airport as guests are able to head straight to immigration and avoid long lines at the airport.”

The cost of home check-in packages starts from $59.89 (AED220) which includes a maximum of four bags, regardless of the number of passengers.

Additional baggage allowance can be purchased for $10.89 (AED40) per bag.

DUBZ CEO Omar Abou Faraj said: “Our innovative service will provide complete peace of mind and more mobility to Etihad customers, helping them enjoy a smooth and safe travel experience during and after the pandemic.”

DUBZ is the UAE’s first specialised off-airport solutions provider.

Last month, Etihad Airways started trialling International Air Transport Association (IATA) Travel Pass on flights from Abu Dhabi, UAE, to Chicago, New York and Washington in the US and Toronto, Canada.
