Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has become the only Indian airport to be voted as a preferred international airport at the prestigious global Condé Nast Traveler’s 2020 Readers’ Choice Awards.

CSMIA was adjudged by over 7,15,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers across the globe, sharing their recent travel experiences that reflected the airport’s excellence in service parameters.

The award acknowledges the airport’s offering of a holistic experience through its state-of-the-art design, a magnificent structure, an assortment of world-class facilities, exceptional service and its revolutionary initiatives that were undertaken to elevate the passenger experience.

While keeping up with delivering the best service for its passengers, CSMIA upped the ante on implementation of safety measures to be followed at the airport in the wake of the pandemic.

In the interest of passenger safety, CSMIA has adhered to the norms of the government and regulatory bodies to create a safe haven at the airport. This includes ensuring stringent screening, social distancing, mandatory donning of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), sanitization and disinfection processes amongst others.

CSMIA has also gone a step ahead and innovated its existing physical and digital infrastructure to promote a contactless experience for passengers. The airport recently introduced a QR-code based technology to its check-in kiosks that minimizes surface contact of the passengers in the course of their journey.

Passengers can use their own phone to scan the QR code and gain remote access to complete their check-in process and generate their boarding pass and baggage tags. CSMIA also encourages passengers to opt for contactless payment methods for any transactions at the airport.

Keeping with international standards, CSMIA was also the first Indian airport to achieve the airport health accreditation from Airport Council International (ACI); this accreditation reassures passengers that the safety measures adopted by the airport as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic are in accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s (ICAO) Council’s Aviation Recovery Task Force (CART) recommendations.

The Condé Nast Traveler 2020 Readers’ Choice Awards are the longest-running and the most esteemed recognition of excellence in the travel industry. Selected by thousands of readers, the award bolsters CSMIA’s vision to cater exceptional service to its passengers to provide a memorable and efficient transit through the airport.
