One week since it resumed flights to Moscow, Emirates has announced that it would be operating the Airbus-380 on the route out of Dubai.

The flights to Moscow Domodedovo Airport operating twice-a-week, had starting from Friday, September 18 with a 777-300ER service. The decision to add the A380 is being seen as a signal for high demand.

Emirates is slowly expanding it’s route map and A380 services, with an eye to having its entire network running by next summer, aviation news website simpleflying said in a report.

On Friday, the flight departs from Dubai at 10.10 a.m. local time and lands in Moscow at 2.25 p.m. local time, as flight number EK 133. The return flight departs Moscow at 5.35 p.m. and lands in Dubai at 11.35 p.m. local time, as EK 134.

On Saturday, EK131 departs Dubai at 4.15 p.m. and arrives in Moscow at 8.30 p.m. local time. The return leg leaves Moscow at 11.20 p.m. and arrives in Dubai at 05.30 a.m. local time, a short red-eye flight. Flight time both ways is just over five hours.

The decision to upgrade to an A380 is one that is likely driven by passenger demand from Moscow. Emirates restarted flights after nearly six months (after the original grounding in March), which could mean it’s seeing pent-up demand. Moscow is the first city where Emirates has upgraded to the A380 this quickly.

Emirates currently serves five cities utilising its A380 aircraft including, Cairo, Paris, London Heathrow, Guangzhou and Toronto. It presently serves over 85 destinations in its network, offering passengers travelling between the Americas, Europe, Africa, Middle East, and Asia Pacific safe and convenient connections via Dubai.

Customers can stop over or travel to Dubai as the city has re-opened for international business and leisure visitors. Ensuring the safety of travellers, visitors, and the community, COVID-19 PCR tests are mandatory for all inbound and transit passengers arriving to Dubai (and the UAE), including UAE citizens, residents and tourists, irrespective of the country they are coming from.

Passengers who need to avail of a COVID-19 PCR test certificate prior to departure from Dubai, can make use of special rates at the American Hospital and their satellite clinics across Dubai. This can be done by presenting their tickets or boarding pass. Home or office testing is also available, with results in 48 hours. More information on www.emirates.com/flytoDubai.
