  • Maida/refined flour – 3/4th cup
  • Grain sugar – 1 cup
  • Cocoa powder – 1/2 cup
  • Baking powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1 pinch
  • Choco-chips – 1/2 cup
  • Milk – 4 to 5 tbsp
  • Melted butter – 4 to 5 tbsp
  • Vanilla essence – 1 tsp
  • Eggs – 2 nos
  • Walnuts – 1/2 cup, roughly chopped


  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius.
  • Prepare all the ingredients as per measurements.
  • Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cocoa powder and salt in a large bowl.
  • Add choco chips to the warm milk and mix well, stir in melted butter, vanilla essence and beaten eggs.
  • Add all the liquid ingredients into the flour mixture, using a spatula fold in gently, finally add in the walnuts and mix.
  • Pour the batter into a greased baking dish lined with butter paper and place it for baking for approximately 20 mins, check using a toothpick/knife in the centre of the tin, once it comes out clean and well baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool for 15 mins, then demould, slice and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream and chocolate sauce.
