Bizarre Stories - Cabin crew to wear diapers

In yet another Bizarre Story recently the Chinese Aviation Authorities have asked the cabin crew in all Chinese airlines to wear diapers to avoid using the washrooms. In the sixth edition of the technical guidelines of the Epidemic Prevention and Control for Airlines, the authorities have proposed that the crew wear diapers.

As per the Sydney Morning Herald, this advice comes in a 38 page list of guidelines for airlines to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China said the recommendation applies for charter flights to and from countries and regions where infections exceed 500 in every one million people.

The nappy advice is in a section on personal protective equipment, which also recommends the following for cabin crew :-

  • Medical protective masks
  • Double-layer disposable medical rubber gloves
  • Goggles, disposable caps
  • Disposable protective clothing
  • Disposable shoe covers

A section on the PPE reads “It is recommended that cabin crew members wear disposable diapers and avoid using the lavatories barring special circumstances to avoid infection risks.”

While it is no secret that the washroom handles and the tray tables are probably the dirtiest places on a plane, all necessary precautions are taken while flying, but seriously for a passenger to get his meals and service with a cabin crew fully loaded in his diapers may be pushing it a bit much, really bizarre isn’t it ??

Wuhan was the so claimed epicentre of the world for the virus that had a huge impact on the Chinese aviation market, but they recovered remarkably and currently have only 12 cases in the entire country in the second week of December, while the world is still struggling to get Covid-19 under control.
